Vancouver, BC, June 1st, 2021 — Starling Minds, a leading digital mental health platform, announced today that Tara McCarville, Principal Consultant at Brighton Group and a national healthcare leader in Canada, has been elected to Starling’s board of directors.

McCarville brings over 20 years of leadership experience within healthcare, management consulting and telecom, as well as a long track record as a champion for sustainable, accessible, and high-quality healthcare solutions.

A seasoned health operations executive, McCarville has led national practices at PwC Canada, Trillium Health Partners, and TELUS Health with a focus on improving quality and outcomes for government, hospital, healthtech/medtech, homecare/long term care, and private equity clients. In her role at Brighton Group, McCarville works with health industry clients in both the public and private sectors with growth strategies and operational improvement.

“As the economy turns the corner and rebuilds from the aftermath of the pandemic, Canada’s workforce requires immediate and affordable access, to scientifically effective mental healthcare in an already overextended healthcare system,” Peter Oxley, CEO of Starling Minds.  “We are thrilled to have Tara’s expertise, exceptional track record, and deep understanding of Canada’s healthcare system to help drive Starling’s mission to add digital mental healthcare tools into the ecosystem of employers, providers, and payers.”

“I am proud and excited to be a part of Starling’s mission and growth,” says McCarville. “Mental health has never been more important and critical.  Our traditional healthcare models are not only unsustainable, but also fail to meet the growing demand for access to care. We need better, more innovative, and effective solutions to keep our healthcare systems, communities, and citizens healthy and safe. I strongly believe that digital therapy like Starling is essential in those efforts.”

As a board member, McCarville will provide her unique insights and expertise within the healthcare sector. With her values and breadth of experience, she will help Starling continue to grow, innovate, and provide improved access to immediate, affordable, unbiased and effective mental healthcare.

McCarville holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Arts, Honours from Queen’s University. She has served on several volunteer-based, non-profit and community boards and committees, including the Digital Technology Supercluster, OntarioMD and ALAViDA.
